On this beautiful summer day, I'd like to provide a "Humpday Holla-back" playlist inspired by the weather. Yup, that's right, not just one song, but an entire list! I, for one, will be enjoying this day from the comfort of my gray cube. I wonder if there's any chance I could get a tan from the fluorescent lights shining on me from above....
I would just like to preface this list by saying that Jimmy Buffet will NOT be included as he makes Big Ran want to kick puppies & punch babies.
1. Summertime: Will Smith. This is the #1 summer anthem for our generation. The outfits are pretty awesome, the haircuts are remarkable, what's not to like? I'd love to see a "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" reunion one of these days.
2. Hot In Here: Nelly. How fun is this song? Also, anytime you can work in the lyrics, "I'm just kiddin' like Jason", you've got a hit on your hands! GO MAVS!
3. The Heat is on: Glenn Frey. The title says it all, PLUS we've got Eddie Murphy involved yet again, which is instant comedy.
4. Heat Wave: Martha & The Vandellas. A real oldie but goody and it fits into this themed playlist perfectly. Pretty sure this was made before the time of videos, so I'll just post a link to the song....
5. Surfin' USA: The Beach Boys. I must note that I absolutely DETEST the Beach Boys, but, given the title and the group name, I'd be irresponsible to NOT include one of their songs on this list. However, I am not giving them a shoutout via YouTube link.
6. California Love: Tupac & Dr. Dre. A classic from the 90's, one of Pac's best and a crazy video that makes you want to party. Chris Tucker=Instant Party Yup, I think I'd rather be on the set of that video than in my cube today.
7. Burnin' Up: Faith Evans: Because, in 90 degree plus temps, we certainly are.
8. Water: Brad Paisley: Sorry Big Ran, I know you hate country, and you know I'm not a huge fan either, but this song is perfect for this playlist AND Brad Paisley is actually pretty good! PLUS---remember, I didn't include ANY Jimmy Buffet on this list, just for you, so I'm sure you'll let this slide!
9. All Summer Long: Kid Rock. #1 Detroit Sports Fan & he makes being White Trash fashionable and awesome.
10. Schools Out: Alice Cooper. I always think of Alice Cooper after I've taken a swim with my eyemakeup on....because I end up looking JUST like him! On a side note, when I was in elementary school, there was this kid who acted like he knew EVERYTHING, when in reality, he didn't know that much. SO, one day, one of our friends said to him, "Hey Danny, what do you think about Alice Cooper?" and Danny said, "Oh, I like HER, SHE's hot!".....I'll always remember that....but I digress...
*And, as usual, I have to include "Party All The Time" because, regardless of the playlist's theme, this song is ALWAYS appropriate, especially in light of Big Ran's original commentary.
Enjoy and have a great day!

Humpday Holla-back
The other day at work we were talking about the NKOTBSB concert at Fenway over the weekend and how a ton of people went to it. Then we transitioned to the Donnie Wahlberg, then Mark Wahlberg, then obviously to his career in music as Marky Mark. It took us a few minutes to remember the title of his jam, "Good Vibrations," so we obviously had to watch the video. Wow. Damn, they knew how to make a video in 1991.
As you can see, its about four and a half minutes of choreographed dance, and a shirtless Marky Mark alternating between working out and banging chicks. So, this video was probably a pretty accurate portrayal of his life in the early 90s. Plus, its good to have a little local talent on a day our home town Bruins play game seven for the cup.

Humpday Holla-back
In honor of the Bruins taking on the Canucks in game one of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight, we thought we would bring you a Humpday Holla-back from 1990, the last time the Bs were in the finals. You know what 1990 means? That's right. Please Hammer, don't hurt 'em!

Humpday Holla-back
I've been sitting on this idea for a humpday holla-back for a while now, waiting for just the right time. Given that the Celtics are down 1-3, the weather is crappy, and it's still not Friday, I figured we all could use an absolutely amazing video. So, enjoy this wonderful creation from MC Hammer, oops sorry, Hammer, BEFORE he filed bankruptcy.
MC Hammer - Pumps in a Bump
Ok, so I'm writing my commentary under the assumption that you haven't gone blind during the viewing of this video. Have you stopped laughing yet? What is going on here? This makes "Rico Suave" look like a country music video. Obviously, he must have borrowed his phone from Zack Morris and the Saved By The Bell kids, and, I'm not sure WHERE he got the Speedo. It's zebra striped! It's unbelievable! And speaking of the Speedo, what are the odds that it's stuffed with tube socks? Parents complain about how things are so out of control on TV today, but guess what everyone? I think this is probably one of the most 'inappropriate' things ever and I fully support it! (The video and the, well, you know...)
And, even though I firmly believe that Speedos should be outlawed, have you ever seen anyone wearing one with a pair of lifting gloves and black combat boots? Oh, you haven't? Well, you have now! No one will make fun of you as long as you pair the banana hammock with combat boots. What is that move he's doing at the one minute mark? This same move, or variation of it, is featured throughout the video and I'm just not sure what to say. Fortunately, despite the over stimulation caused by all the action and colors, this video is very simple. Hammer found out he was going to be forced into foreclosure because he supported all his homies and mismanaged his money. So, he figured he'd throw one last party with a mandatory dress code: For women, you could only come if you wore a bikini and pumps. For men, you can't upstage the Hammer's hammer, so you have to wear shorts or be fully clothed. He's the host, he gets to wear the festive Speedo. And men? Only a few of you could attend, so make sure you get there early!
The bump? I know that he was clearly referring too the women's asses, especially when he spits the hot fire; "I don't like 'em stiggity fat! (No!) I like 'em stiggity stacked (Yeah!) You wiggity wiggity wack if you ain't got biggity back (Awwww!)". However, ironically enough, I think the 'bump' may also be referring to what is so clearly presented in the Zeedo (Zebra Speedo, like that?).
Around the 2:40 mark, a think a call to 911 is in order because that chick is having a seizure. Clearly too much time out in the sun, she must be dehydrated. And at 3:00, the pool party seems to end for the guys as they are all fully clothed, including Hammer. For the women? They have to stay in their bumps and bikinis and wait around for the dance routine performed at the 3:30 mark. Once this happens, EVERYONE can change into their evening wear and get ready to dance the night away. A++. Beautiful. When is he dropping his next hit?
P.S. If anyone knows where I can get a pair of sunglasses like his and a speedo like that, please let me know. Summer is coming and I'd like Mr. KC Jones to give it a shot. We can find the combat boots on our own.

Humpday Holla-back
Since Big Ran is always doing nice things for me, like calling me a sports commy, a sports bigamist, and poking fun at my beloved, but aging Spurs, I wanted to do something nice for him today. I thought long and hard about it and decided to express my appreciation via the "Humpday Holla-back" weekly post.
Big Ran, I know that this is one of your favorite groups, so this one's for you my friend, it's the least I can do (Unfortunately there's a commercial at the beginning since this group is so full of douchebags that they have blocked embedding videos from YouTube):
-KC Jones
Note from Big Ran: Thanks KC, and as a bonus there was no commercial. Quick Nickelback story: I was in Scotland (BALLER!) like 10 years ago and in some bar where there was live music. A Scottish dude asked me what was going on with American music, and I was like "what do you mean?" he said, "What's up with that bank Nickelback? They're rubbish." I responded with, "They are terrible, but they're from Canada. I'm not taking the blame for that one." KC, remember that time you asked me if the song playing on the radio was new and I said that it wasn't. It was Jimi Hendrix and it was 1997. Good times.
Here's my favorite Nickelback Cover:
Note from KC: Yes Big Ran, unfortunately I do remember that Hendrix situation. How I did not realize that is still beyond me, because even though I don't listen to him, he surely has a very distinct sound and style. Good catch on Nickelback being from Canadia---we CAN'T be held accountable for that.

Humpday Holla-back
For this Wednesday's "Humpday Holla-back", I'd like to showcase one of my favorite rappers, Fabolous. I think he's one of the most underrated rappers in the game. Seriously, I don't think there's anything he's done that I DON'T like....
Couple of things that make this video, like it's creator, FABOLOUS:
Brooklyn, uh uh uh uh
Huh Huh uh huh do it huh Yea
Uh Uh do it huh huh what ya'll want huh
Rollin, gold two seater
Stash in the dash
Hole through heaters
Blockahhhhh put holes through beaters
Ghetto Fab stroll through Cheetahs
Ballin, Brooklyn dawn
Addicted to Crys hooked on Don
15 G's hookers on
Ma, I wanna see how you look in thongs
Hustlin, guys that send Po's
Cause I chop rocks the size of mentos
Blame me, trials aquit those
Look at the hurt your eyes will squit close
Pimpin' here's a new way to flirt
Listen to the two way alert
It goes (2 way beeps in song's beat)
Lets go VIP boo raise your skirt
[Chorus]
Holla back Young'n (Hoooo Hoooo!)
Holla back (Hoooo Hoooo!)
Holla back Young'n (Hoooo Hoooo!)
Holla back (Hoooo Hoooo!)
Holla back Young'n (Hoooo Hoooo!)
Holla back (Hoooo Hoooo!)
Holla back Young'n (Hoooo Hoooo!)
Holla back (Hoooo Hoooo!)
I'm Gangsta
Ya'll just wannabe's
Federal Agents on their P's
30 grand 28 on the keys
Gotta good lawyer I'm gonna squeeze
Thuggin' jeans and Tim's
Fitted to the front lean the brim
Ride but never on teenage rims
And I keep a chick's face between limbs
Stylin ya'll heard about my kick game
I'm on the parkway see me at the Knick game
Probably seen this tatted on your chick frame
F-A-B-O-L-O-U-S
Ridin Ya'll know as well I do
That's the way you can tell I flew
So I got a deal I sell pot too
Cause before I hit the pens I'm gettin bailed by Clue
[Chorus]
Cruisin top on the Mercedes low
Turn us up when you hear this on the radio
Blastin with the nineteen eighty flow
Make the necks on the ladies go (wooo wooop)
Holla that's what a pretty thug will do
Hit Branson get a fifty jug or two
Ya'll throwin on them gritty mugs for who
Like ya'll don't know what fifty slugs will do
Hatin I just bought the bulls
I put ya'll in the front page articles
I got em lookin at the billboard charts confused
And I still freestyle to start the Clue's
Reppin I'm that kid about the doe
I done copped coke and started droughts before
Shit Platinum out the door
Now I drop the top down just to shout to hoes
[Chorus]
-KC Jones
Couple of things that make this video, like it's creator, FABOLOUS:
- He's keepin' it real, he leaves a chauffeured vehicle and slides down a stairway railing to catch public transportation as a way to meet the ladies. What?! Who does that? Fabolous, that's who.
- Around the 51 second mark- NICE phone!
- At the1:03 mark, a cameo from Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes/N.E.R.D- instantly classes the video up.
- At the1:37 mark, he sitting with his boombox.. Where did this come from? He didn't have it with him when he hopped on at the beginning.
- Magical outfit changes while on the Subway.
- At the 2:54 mark: The nerdy white businessman is busting a move. Watch him throughout the entire video, this grand finale was just brewing the whole time.
- Dance Party U.S.A. on the Subway. The public transportation industry has never been cast in such a positive light.

Humpday Holla-back
Just a little something to push us over the hump this Wednesday afternoon....
How many people are more entertaining and likable than Redman? Seriously....if you aren't a fan of his or if you haven't heard or seen any of his work, you're missing out. He is arguably one of the most unintentionally funny people in the world---check out the link to his appearance on MTV Cribs for further proof. Red, your 'dollar box'? Great idea......I feel you....I'm thinking of starting a fan club.....I wonder if Big Ran is interested....
