Ugh, I wish I slacked off at work and posted this earlier because everyone has it up now.  Anyway, if I had to guess, I would guess this is fake, but well done, had me for a second.  Let's be honest, I'm not re-watching this for what she says.  Hey, I may be on a diet, but it doesn't mean I can't look at the menu.

On What Planet Should Isiah Thomas be Hired Again?

While there are no questions that Isiah Thomas was one of the best point guards of all time, since his playing days ended, he has been a one man wrecking crew.  Let's take a look at some of the highlights, shall we?

-Zeke's first foray into basketball management came in 1994 with the Toronto Raptors.  He ended up leaving in 1998 after a dispute with management (i.e. the team sucked and couldn't keep any good players).

-He then joined NBC Broadcasting.  I honestly do not remember this at all.  I'm guessing he was terrible, especially if he was paired with Bob Costas.  Bob Costas might be the devil.

-Thomas then purchased the CBA for $10 million in 1998 and was the owner until 2000.  The CBA had to declare bankruptcy after what many team owners termed as Thomas' "mismanagement and  out-of-control spending."

-After the CBA's bankruptcy came his stint as the coach of the Indiana Pacers.  This lasted three years until Larry Bird returned to the team and booted him.  I'm sure it didn't hurt that Thomas was quoted as saying "If Larry Bird was black, he would only be another good player (or something to that effect)."  At least he wasn't responsible for the "Malice in the Palace."

-How do you sum up Thomas' time with the Knicks?  The terrible record, the terrible contracts, the crushing of a franchise, and an $11 million payout for sexual harassment seem to only scratch the surface of his destruction.

-Shortly after getting booted from NY, he overdosed on Lunesta and inexplicably tried to cover it up saying it was his daughter.  In the words of Charlie Murphy, "WRONG.  WRONG. (I may be the only one that gets this reference)" 

-Thomas then took the head coaching job at Florida International University (because no one else wanted him) and led the team to a 7-25 record in his first year.  He then announced he was taking a job as a consultant for the Knicks while remaining the FIU coach.  Nope, that's against most NBA and NCAA rules.  The Golden Showers Panthers were 11- 9 this year.

So, this brings up to the present where, for some un-Godly reason, both the Knicks and the Pistons have interest in hiring him.  The Knicks, seemingly in some management position, and the Pistons as their head coach.  As a Celtics fan, I welcome Isiah back to the NBA, especially to an Eastern Conference team.  I would especially welcome him back to the Knicks, where Donnie Walsh has finally gotten rid of most of their terrible contracts and has two great players to build on.  I would LOVE Isiah to come in and somehow muck that up again.

“I’d like to see him play in Minnesota and see how he does."

This was D'Antoni's quote before Game 4 of the Celts - Knicks series when asked about Rajon Rondo. Rondo promptly responded with 21 points on 8 of 12 shooting, 12 assists, and 5 rebounds.  Hey coach, how's your coaching career working out without Steve Nash?

I just think he's insecure about looking like Tom Skerritt circa Top Gun:

Based on D'Antoni's in-game interviews and when he is mic'd up during timeouts, I have never been happier to have Doc Rivers as the coach of the Boston Celtics.

Game Three Reaction

A few quick thoughts to game three at MSG...

For the Knicks, Amare is clearly not close to 100%.  He looked OK very early, but seemed to really stiffen up as the game went on and couldn't get anything going.  The fact that Billups was out really hurt the Kicks as well.  They have no one that can handle and distribute the ball to Amare and Melo.  All that forced Melo to do everything.  When the Cs have a couple of days to prepare for that defensively, that is going to be too much for one player to take on.  

The Knicks supporting cast looked thoroughly overmatched and pathetic.  Douglas can shoot, but can't distribute.  Walker and Jeffries are fine as role players off the bench, but you can't ask them to contribute offensively.  Williams was the only guy that brought anything to the table.

For the Cs, Paul, Ray, and Rondo were nearly flawless.  There were stretches when Ray and Paul could not miss and Rondo had a triple-double in the third quarter.  As a whole, they decided to play some serious D, move the ball, and run plays.  

On the less than positive side, the bench was still pretty terrible.  Having Ray and Paul on fire is great, but if the offense only clicks when they are in, they are going to log some serious minutes at a time when they want to keep some fresh legs.  However, Jeff Green looked pretty good when he played with the starters.

For some reason, KG was very hesitant on the offensive end.  He played some good D and got some boards, but passed up a lot of shots, leading to a few forced passes and turnovers.

Ultimately, this was a dismantling, due to the Cs playing great on both ends against a depleted Knicks team.  While I would be shocked to see this even go five games because of the blood in the water, it would be nice to see the Cs crush their spirit again on Sunday and get some time off before the next series.

Not Pretty, but I'll Take It

 

 If you had told me before game one of this series that the Knicks would lose Big Shot (and Big Teeth) Billups during crunch time of game one and Amare for a lot of game two, I would have bet the house on the C's not only winning, but winning big.  However, the C's bench has been turrible and they have not been playing any defense.  I have to give the Knicks credit for hanging tough and doing all they can, but I don't think they can hang around, even in MSG, without Billups and Amare.  If they are both out again, bank on Rondo racking up some serious stats.  With that said, I have no idea what to expect in this series going forward.  This could come back to Boston after the C's sweep, up 3-1, or with the series tied.

It was nice to see KG come up huge on the last couple of possessions with a big hoop and a great steal after giving up a go-ahead bucket to Jared Jeffries.  ESPN did a little research and found that during this current Big Three era, the Celtics have had nine situations where they needed a go-ahead hoop with less than ten seconds to go and they have never gone to Garnett.  So, as a long-time Celtics and KG fan, I was pumped to see him deliver offensively when it mattered most.  While he was in Minnesota, there was always talk about him not being a clutch player, so it was nice for him to have a little redemption, even though he didn't really need it.

The Kicks need Amare to have a shot.  I don't think you can give the Celtics two days to prepare and only have Melo doing his best Jimmy Chitwood impression.  I've had back spasms before and they're terrible.  I'm also a huge pussy, who sits in an office all day, not a world class ath-a-leet.  The Knicks need to get Amare some serious muscle relaxers and have Spike Lee give him a deep tissue massage or else we know what may happen:

Ronny Turiaf Needs to Get Punched in the Dick

I don't care if he played for Gonzaga.  I don't care if he had a heart transplant (OK, open heart surgery).  The dude needs to get a really aggressive cup check.  Plus, he's French.  Everyone load up on your freedom fries and your freedom toast, drape yourself in red, white, and blue, and root for the Celts.  That's what real Americans do.

Even if you're a Knicks fan, wouldn't you rather have Ray's Mom on your side than Spike?  I think if I was a Knicks fan, Spike would piss me off to no end for making all their fans seem like absolute yahoos.  Get off the court dude, I don't care how long you've had those season tickets.  Ray's Mom runs marathons for charity and stays off the court.  When the worst thing you can say about her is that she wears bedazzled jerseys, that beats orange babushkas all day long.
