Very Nice, High Five...Dumbass

Report: Tyrone officer said no to ‘high-five’ from DUI suspect

Suspect allegedly thanked officer who stopped him

TYRONE - A Tyrone man who allegedly drove up on police without headlights is facing drunken driving charges.
Gerald C. Decker, 27, of 314 Cranberry St. allegedly said, "Thanks, buddy" and tried to "high five" a Tyrone officer who was on foot and flagged Decker down to tell him he was driving without headlights, court records show.
"That's not how it works," Officer Adam Bonsell told Decker before having him step out of the vehicle, according to Decker's arrest papers.
According to police, Bonsell was on the 1500 block of Columbia Avenue about 1:20 a.m. Feb. 19 dealing with an unrelated incident when he was informed a vehicle was headed toward the scene without lights.
Decker allegedly failed several field sobriety tests before he was taken to Tyrone Hospital for a blood test. Police note Decker's blood alcohol content was 0.219 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
Decker is charged with driving under the influence, driving without headlights, driving on a suspended license and careless driving. An arraignment and a preliminary hearing are slated for March 27.
Bro, probably just a a killer night at Applebee's, having some frozen margaritas, rocked out to some Nickleback, and finally scored fat Becky's number.  Life was on cruise control until he decided to get behind the wheel and high five a cop.  Now he watch his corn hole in federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison.

Stuck In My Head

Sorry everybody, but I am going to The Black Keys concert tomorrow night, so I have been crushing their jams like 24-7.  As a result, that's pretty much all I have rattling around in my dome.  Starts out slow, but half way through they start friggin' ripping it.

My wife gets paid at midnight tomorrow, so I'm spending her entire paycheck on beer and t-shirts.  Gonna be awesome.

American Mutha F*ckin' Idol

I'm not afraid to admit that I watch American Idol with Mrs. Big Ran.  I won't say I love when it is on for six hours a week, but once they get down to the nitty gritty, I get into it.  Plus, I am part of a 200 person American Idol Pool that can win you some serious cash.  I feel as though as soon as you start gambling on something it instantly becomes more manly.

Just like last week's run down on "Dancing with the Mutha F*ckin' Stars," I'll go through everyone remaining after they cut almost half of the top 25.  However, I have actually seen these people sing, so I may have a little (useless) insight.  Once again, in alpha order...

1.  Deandre Brackensick

OK, I am no musical genius or producer, but I could not believe the judges liked his first performance.  I don't deny the degree of difficulty, but who would listen to this?

This would have been more accurate:

Vegas has him near the bottom on the board for a reason, with 20-to-1 odds.  I have no clue how he made it past the top 25.

2.  Hollie Cavanagh

This girl can definitely sing, but she's boring.  She's originally from the UK and now lives in Texas.  The best part of her performance was when she was being interviewed and I told my wife it sounded like she was British and my wife responded with, "No, but I think she may be deaf."  That was awesome.  Hollie's 10-to-1 in Vegas which seems about right.  I think she could stick around a few weeks and probably makes the top 10.  I don't think she has any shot to win unless I start seeing some serious spark.

3.  Colton Dixon

Sounds and looks like an emo rocker.  He could definitely be the lead singer of a band and I think he could stick around for a while.  We'll have to see how he adapts to the different themes ever week.  5-to-1 in Vegas, so he is definitely near the top for the gambling crowd.

4.  HeeJun Han

I love this dude.  He isn't the best singer in the group, but he is hilarious.  He could be a comedian if this doesn't work out for him.  Vegas has him at 10-to-1, so the middle of the pack, which seems about right.  He works with special needs children, so that has to count for something, right?  He'll get most of his votes from the coasts and not middle America.  However, that's probably the case for about half of the contestants.

5.  Jermain Jones

Dude is enormous and has a mad deep voice.  I don't think he has a shot, but I do enjoy seeming him stand next to Ryan Seacrest.

I was shocked America voted him in.  Vegas has him at 14-to-1 and I am surprised he's that high.  Maybe he's likable enough to hang on for a few weeks.  Boring, no range.

6.  Skylar Laine

My wife loves country music and I hate it, so I will listen to her when it comes to country folks.  This girl is Reba McEntire.  High energy.  She is 100% country and we have Whitney Houston week coming up.  This girl may need to take a bunch sleeping pills and Valium, a la Whitney just to mellow out.  Too soon?  10-to-1 odds, another middle-of-the packer.

7.  Joshua Ledet

This dude can sing like hell and he could absolutely MURDER Stevie Wonder week coming up.  We'll see if he is likable enough and can vary his style enough to stick around.  9-to-1 in Vegas, so he is fifth on their list.

8.  Shannon Magrane

Two fun facts:  Her dad is Joe Magrane, who was a MLB pitcher, mostly with the Cardinals, and is like 6'8".  Shannon is also like 16 and freakishly tall too.  Vegas has her at 5-to1 which absolutely shocks me.  Middle America will probably love her, I can't get a read on her yet.  She's ayight, I guess.  I would guess lower-middle-of-the-pack.

9.  Phillip Pillips

Works in a pawn shop that his family owns in Georgia and his style has been compared to Dave Matthews.  I hate Dave Matthews, but I like this dude.  Crushed Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" last week, so he made Vince Wilfork and Kevin Garnett very happy.  He is my wife's favorite and I think he will be top three and definitely in the mix.  Vegas has him first on their board at 7-to-2.

10.  Jeremy Rosado

OK, first things first, this kid has a nice voice, but no shot to win.  He absolutely lost me last week with his crying and kissing of J-Lo's very nice ass.

Cut the sh!t dude.  Come on, there's no crying in American Idol!  Well, I guess there actually is, and a lot of it.  I hope he loses this week.  You can't be throwing a crying fit just to get your way, this is America.  Vegas has him at 30-to-1.  GTFO, chubbs.

11.  Jessica Sanchez

Crushed it after having the flu or some sh!t.  This chick is for real.  I expect her to cush the other contestants' collective will to live after Whitney Houston week.  I would be surprised if she didn't make it to the final.  Vegas has her at 7-to-1.  Could be a solid bet if you have money to burn.

12.  Elise Testone

I have to be honest, I haven't seen anything she has done and missed last week since I was probably taking a dog out.  Let's watch together, shall we?

Good bluesy type of vibe, but enough with these broads singing Adele.  We only have so much room for husky singers.  I kid, I kid.  I wonder if she'll have the flexibility to pull it off or the creativity to mold songs into her style.  Vegas has her at 15-to-1.  I think she sticks around three weeks at most.  The judges picked her to keep going, so she has some talent.  J-Lo thinks she may be the best singer of the bunch.

13.  Erika Van Pelt

She's originally from Rhode Island and is a DJ.  She can definitely sing and actually seems normal, but she definitely doesn't have the "American Idol Look."  Vegas has her at 25-to-1.  I think she'll stick around because she can really sing, but she's not in the mix to win.

My guess?  Phillip Phillips vs. Jessica Sanchez in the final; two very contrasting styles.  I'll share my American Idol Top Ten when we get there.

Stuck In My Head

Today, literally half of my office is out with the stomach virus that is going around.  Bad times.  I think I am going to close my door and not let anyone in unless they have a face mask and rubber gloves on.

In other work related news, don't do what Big ran did last week.  For some reason we were pulling up our id pictures on our intra-office website.  And one person (my manager before I had a bit of a job change), said to pull hers up because she was like 8 months pregnant and huge in it.  She is a tiny person, but honestly BLEW UP when she was pregnant with each of her two kids.  Without seeing the picture, I said, sarcastically, that "At least [she] didn't put on muich weight while she was pregnant."  Ooof.  Not smart.  She definitely got irritated, and I even tried to save myself about how you would never know she had kids now.  That didn't work.  She's still pissed.  So, don't do that.

UPDATE! THE KANGAROO WILL STAY!

OMG I want a baby kangaroo now!

A local family has won a battle with their HOA over an unusual pet.

The Dreis family has a 6-month-old kangaroo, Mike.

But they didn’t get Mike just for fun – he’s actually there to help the family’s 16-year-old special-needs daughter, Kala.

In the Dreis household, Mike the kangaroo is much more than just a pet - he's a beloved member of the family.

For that reason, the actions of the homeowners association where they live in Spring, Texas, has come as a shock.

Jeni and Nick Dreis bought the red kangaroo about a month ago, and are taking care of him for the next year before he’s moved to a wildlife park.

Mike’s closest companion is the Dreis’ 16-year-old daughter Kayla, who has Down’s syndrome.  Kayla says, “I like to snuggle with him. He's silly. And he loves me.”

But on February 20, the Dreis’ received a terse letter from the Estate of Legends Ranch Homeowners Association, threatening to cut their relationship short.

The letter read: 'Please immediately remove the kangaroo from your property as it is not a household pet nor can it be maintained for any business purposes. You are asked to correct the violation immediately.'

While red kangaroos are the largest of the marsupial class when they reach adulthood, Mike only weighs about 10 pounds.

But it’s a happy—or should we say hoppy—ending for Kala. The HOA has had a change of heart and will let the family keep Mike.

“We regret the miscommunication. Now that we have more information about the situation, it was never our intention to separate this beautiful girl from the kangaroo,” The Estates of Legends Ranch HOA said in a written statement. “We know that the baby kangaroo will only live in our community for a brief time until a more suitable home can be found. We plan to work with the family to do what’s best for all homeowners.”

It's not often that people will reverse course, admit they may have made a mistake, and actually do something to help a family like this.  A nice story as we head into the weekend.  I just hope nobody tries to get in this kangaroo's pouch and go for a ride.

Kobe, Tell Me How That Mask Tastes

Thanks to D(ouche)-Wade, Kobe ended up with a concussion and a busted nose from the All Star game and is now just killing it with the Rip Hamilton face mask.  I bet LeBron tries to get Wade to break his nose too, just so he can show people that he can play with a face mask too.  It's like when you were a little kid and would just put a band aid on so people would ask you about it or they would think you were cool because you got cut.

Essentially, I will use any vehicle possible to make fun of LeEgo.  Bron probably loves this mask because it only covers three-quarters of your face.

SPRING, Texas – A local family is locked in a fight with their HOA over an unusual pet.
The Dreis family has a 6-month-old kangaroo, Mike.

But they didn’t get Mike just for fun – he’s actually there to help the family’s 16-year-old special-needs daughter, Kala.

Jeni Dreis said she got Mike for Kala from the Texas Downs, a facility that helps disabled adults.

"They seem to relate to each other a lot better. Animals sense that they have a special-needs child around them and special-needs children learn how to be tender and sweet around them," Jeni Dreis said.

Kala has only had Mike for a month, but her mom said he’s already taught the teen a lot.
"Kala has been learning to care for him, and Kala has learned how to meet needs above her own," Jeni Dreis said.

But the neighborhood HOA has different ideas about Mike’s future.

Jeni Dreis said the organization sent her family a letter asking that they "immediately remove the kangaroo" from their property, because it is "not a household pet."

That’s left Kala heartbroken at the prospect of losing her new friend.

"I would cry," she said.

Jeni Dreis said she’s sent a letter back to the HOA protesting the order, but as of Tuesday, she was still waiting to hear back.

I'm totally bummed by the misleading title of this article. "Texas Family Fighting To Keep Special Needs Kangaroo". Um, that would imply that the Kangaroo has special needs, right? Well, according to the article, that is NOT the case. Who allowed this to be published with this sort of title? They should be fired----they ruined my day! I was expecting to become educated regarding exactly what 'special needs' entailed for a kangaroo and I'm met with some boring, 'feel good' story. Also, what is up with a kangaroo being in Texas? Can they even live in the U.S.? That's the first I've heard of any of this. That's it, I'm calling Brian Fellows, he'll know the answer!

*By the way,  the family should TOTALLY be allowed to keep this guy because his name is "Mike" and, on what grounds is the HOA basing their declaration that Mike is NOT a household pet? Prove it!

Leaping Lizards....

Frigin Adorable....

MORPHETT VALE, South Australia -- Not many married couples share a birthday. Even fewer are born on the very same day of the same year.

Both Bill and Doll Sheridan were born on Feb, 29, 1932. Physically, the pair is 80. But by the book, or by our calendar, these great grandparents are actually 20 years old.
1. Doll is not a name, it's a term of endearment.
2. This story would be more worthwhile IF they had gotten married on a leap year as well.
3. I'm not sure if people are missing this, but a leap year involves one extra DAY, the rest of the days still exist, so people really aren't only a quarter of their age, etc. Just sayin'....

Dancing With the Mutha F*ckin' Stars

Originally inspired by KC's DWTS primer then even further motivated because what I wrote was so friggin' awesome, here is my instant reaction to the season 14 cast (alphabetically).  Just like last time, no research, just straight from the dome...

1.  Gavin DeGraw, Musician - all I know about him is his infectious jam "I Don't Want to Be" that was the theme song for One Tree Hill.  Yes, I watched that show for like 5 seasons with my wife.  Don't judge me.  Actually, go ahead and judge me, I deserve it.  He must have a sesne of rhythm, but can he shake it?  My guess will be middle of the pack.

2.  Donald Driver, Wide Receiver, Green Bay Packers - I had him on my fantasy football team for like three years in a row.  Always a solid receiver, older vet, he is dieseled, and always seemed like a really good dude in interviews.  Can he move?  I say yes...In the mix to take home that ugly-ass trophy.

3.  Roshon Fegan, Disney Star - Holy Sh!t...We are all dumber for having watched the following video.

4.  Melissa GIlbert, Actress - OK, I know I said no research, but you HAVE to read this from her Wikipedia page:

Nip slip?  Daddy like.
At 17, she reconnected with then little-known actor Rob Lowe, also 17. They had met briefly when they were about 14. In 1981, Melissa, in her convertible, saw Lowe stopped next to her at a red light. Gilbert dated Lowe on-and-off for six years. During this time, both had affairs with other famous people. Melissa dated Tom Cruise, John Cusack, Scott Baio, and Billy Idol. After Lowe's failed romance with Princess Stéphanie, he suddenly proposed to Gilbert. While making wedding plans, Gilbert found out she was pregnant. Upon being informed of the pregnancy, Lowe ended their relationship. Gilbert miscarried days later.

Heart-broken, Gilbert left for New York City to star in the play A Shayna Maidel. Gilbert was set up with actor Bo Brinkman, a cousin of actors Randy Quaid and Dennis Quaid. The couple married on February 22, 1988, only seven weeks after she ended her relationship with Rob Lowe. Gilbert became pregnant months later. US Magazine featured a very pregnant Gilbert wrapped in a sheer sheet and named her one of "America's Ten Most Beautiful Women" in 1988. On May 1, 1989, she gave birth to Dakota Paul Brinkman. After Dakota's birth, the couple began to have marital problems and divorced in 1992.

Only weeks after Gilbert's divorce filing, Bruce Boxleitner's ex-wife (Kathryn Holcomb) set Bruce up with Gilbert. Holcomb by then was married to actor Ian Ogilvy. Gilbert had met Boxleitner as a teenager when they both were on Battle of the Network Stars when Gilbert introduced herself, as she had a pin-up of him in her locker. But Boxleitner ignored her, as she was a teen and he was many years older than she was. After re-connecting, the couple started dating on-and-off for over a year. They were engaged twice and Boxleitner broke up with her each time. After re-uniting for a third time, they finally married on January 1, 1995 in her mother's living room. Gilbert quickly became pregnant, but went into premature labor more than two months before her due date. She gave birth to a son, Michael Garrett Boxleitner, named in honor of Michael Landon, on October 6, 1995. His middle name is in honor of Garret Peckinpah, her friend Sandy Peckinpah's son, who had died suddenly of meningitis at age 16.

Gilbert is also stepmother to Boxleitner's two sons with Holcomb, Sam (b. 1980) and Lee (b. 1985).

She has battled alcoholism and drug abuse, which she wrote about in her 2009 autobiography.

On July 22, 2010, Gilbert underwent surgery to replace a disc as well as fuse a vertebra in her lower spine. The surgery was described as a complete success. While playing the role of Caroline "Ma" Ingalls in the touring musical Little House on the Prairie, a visit to the doctor revealed that she had been working with a broken back for months.
On March 1, 2011, Gilbert announced that she and Boxleitner had separated. On August 22, 2011, Gilbert filed for divorce from Boxleitner.

If someone made that up, they are a genius and I need them to write me a Lifetime movie ASAP.  Awesome.  She's also an iron-clad guarantee to bang her dance partner, right?

5.  Katherine Jenkins, Opera Singer - I had to look this up because I had no idea who she was.  Well, she's an opera singer from Wales.  That's what Welsh opera singers look like?  Huh.  See you guys later.

6.  Gladys Knight, Singer/Musical Legend - she has to be the biggest all time star on this list.  I'm guessing she'll stick around a couple of weeks, but, she may a bit long in the tooth to really get down.

7.  William Levy, Actor on Univision or something - This one's for the ladies (or dudes who like dudes).

8.  Maria Menounos, Entertainment TV Host - also could have put attention-seeking, fraudulent Boston sports fan.  She really irritates the hell out of me for some reason, but hey, she looks good.  Dude, her and the female host of DWTS are probably going to HATE each other because they basically do the same exact thing.

9.  Martina Navratilova, Tennis Hall of Famer - again, she may be someone a bit old to really get down and challenge for the trophy, but she was one of the best tennis players in history, so she may have something up her sleeve.

10.  Sherri Shepherd, The View - Check out these before and afters:

Is that really the same person?  I don't know what's real anymore.  Leap Day is totally f*cking with me.

11.  Jack Wagner, Actor - This guy is in soap operas.  Oh, and he also did this...

12.  Jaleel White, Actor (?) - we all know him as Urkle and this dude is my dark horse pick to win it all.  Peep his moves:
